Thousands of people each year head west instead of north to make the pilgrimage through the fall foliage out to beautiful western Massachusetts. Whether it is the ride along the Mohawk trail or a visit to the Pioneer Valley, we discovered that leaf peeping is not the only reason to take the spectacular drive. There are over 10 museums and art galleries all within the Pioneer Valley that can be visited on and off the college campuses in the Amherst/Northampton area.
Historical, contemporary, local, or fine arts all can be found here within a few miles of each other at Smith College, Mount Holyoke College, Amherst College, Hampshire College and the University of Massachusetts. They are nestled in the beautiful New England campuses as well as tucked away in these adorable Norman Rockwell-esque towns. Elegant farm to table dining, antiquing, and wine tasting at a few local vineyards will keep you entertained for your long weekend. During our time here we came across beautiful murals that abstractly combined shapes, textures, and colors with one another.
