How We Support Dress For Success Charity During Women's History Month

One of our favorite Months is Women's History month. We celebrate women every day, but the world focuses in March on women related issues and causes. As a small business we worked hard to define our brand, make our message clear, positive, and relatable to all women. Our mission is to shine a light on our customers, friends, family members, any women we can reach, their causes and views, and of course bring value to their online shopping experience Another way we support women empowerment is with our charity programs and this month we are featuring the "Dress for Success Program". With every purchase this month from The Jewelry Bx, we will donate 10% of the sale to the Dress for Success Non-Profit Charity. For those of you that may not be as familiar with the Dress for Success program we have summarized it in this blog.
In 1996, second-year law student Nancy Lublin received a $5,000 inheritance from her great-grandfather and decided to turn this gift into one that would keep on giving. She teamed up with three nuns in her area and, identifying a crucial need that was not being filled, founded Dress for Success in the basement of a church in Manhattan that same year.
From that original basement boutique, the mission of Dress for Success spread over all of North America and then across the globe, demonstrating that achieving economic independence is a challenge that all women face regardless of their location, language, customs or culture.
In two years it grew to 22 different cities throughout the United States, and in 1999 their first international location. Today, there are nearly 150 Dress for Success affiliates in 25 countries. What we like is that this charity gets support from every community big or small.
They continue to grow by reaching out to homeless shelters, immigration services, job training programs, educational institutions and domestic violence shelters, among lot of other groups.

The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Dress for Success is part of a global movement for change, empowering women to obtain safer and better futures. They provide each client with professional attire to secure employment, but they are about much more than a new outfit. Besides physically equipping the client with apparel and accessories, their programs furnish her with a confidence that she carries forever and the knowledge that she can actively define her life, the direction she takes and what success means to her.
